Info: Originally from Bristol England, Ben Jacobs aka Crackazat is a multi-Instrumentalist and electronic producer. Since his emergence on the international scene, he has quickly become recognised for his unique fusion of Jazz and House music. Crackazat’s first experience with dance music was an early one. He grew up tap dancing to jazz with his mother, developing an innate sense of swing and rhythm. It was later in to his teenage years, that he picked up guitar, bass and started producing, emulating any music of his interest, be it the underground hip hop of Madlib, or the Jazz-funk of Jamiroquai.
1. Akabu ft. Linda Clifford: ‘Ride The Storm’ (Saison Remix)
Info: London based duo Saison have carved out a niche entirely of their own. Named the best deep house artist of 2018 and 2019 by Traxource – and one of the biggest selling deep house artist on Beatport – they have released on some of the most respected labels in the world, including Defected, Toolroom, Large Music, Sonar Kollektiv, Suara and more, and have remixed titans of the scene including Jack Back and Chez Damier. With a unique sound that incorporates influences from their disparate backgrounds, Saison’s music is raw, heady and deeply involving house music at its very best.
Saison’s sound is characterised by a truly timeless quality and firm focus on groove, deeply rooted in the music from their early, formative years of music discovery. Warm chords, crisp, intricate percussion and evocative soulful vocals are blended to masterful effect to create records that are easily accessible, but that also reward repeat listens due to the intricacy and sophistication of their production. For Saison, it’s about more than simply making you dance: it’s about evoking an emotion that stays with you long after the music has stopped.
2. Karl Sierra: ‘Invite Only’ (Original Mix)
Info: Based in the UK, Karl Sierra is a dedicated producer and DJ who draws his inspiration from NY Funky House and Underground deep influences. Karl's productions have varied with releases on Salted, Bobbin Head and Puro music so far. Six years ago he released this You Don’t Know EP.
3. Roland Nights: ‘Play It Down’ (Freydel & Osaka Remix)
Info: Hailing from Germany, Freydel is more than a house producer; he's a creative powerhouse. His music blends smooth melodies with catchy rhythms, backed by his talent as a photographer capturing portraits of renowned house DJs like Chris Stussy, Chaos in the CBD, and Solomun.
Osaka Vibe is an experimental duo from Belgrade, Serbia. Osaka Vibe is a electronic dance music duo from Belgrade. Not concentrated around any particular genre, Osaka Vibe gained notoriety in Dubstep, Drum And Bass, Progressive house and even in Techno and Tech House.
4. Studioheist: ‘All My Love’ (Original Mix)
Info: Studioheist are Scott Lee & Andy Cain, two music obsessed DJs & producers hailing from Manchester. The pair have been active on the scene for almost 15 years both being DJs in their own right. Scott having held a residency at long running house night ‘Rude’ before gaining a regular slot spinning disco & house in the bar at Sankeys, and Andy who began his career DJ’ing on the early 00s Manchester house scene before securing a long running residency with Disco Electronica at Sankeys.
5. Soledrifter: ‘Got Me’ (Original Mix)
Info: With an approach to dance beats that is all his own, the man known as Soledrifter (aka Dmitry Meshcheryakov) makes music that stirs the spirit to move. After immigrating from Moscow, Russia to Halifax,Canada in 2001, this musician-turned-house music-producer began churning out tracks in his basement beat kitchen. Some of his first original tracks were put out on Toronto-based labels Stickman and Slush as well as several remixes (all released under the former aliases Deemah, D_Mon, Demar).
It wasn't long before his work started pricking up ears throughout the house music industry. Releasing his “Halifax Explosion” EP on Chicago's D’lectable Recordings in 2006 would lead to the track “Words” being included on DJ Heather’s “House of Om” Mix for OM Records the same year. Remixes and releases on Miguel Migs’ Salted Music, then Large, King Street Sounds, Madhouse,Duffnote, Amenti Music,Good Stuff Recordings, Musol, Bobbin Head Music .
294 Records have all followed since then, making Soledrifter’s tracks among the hottest commodities in house music and some of the top 10 tracks on download stores sales charts.You can also find his music on Hed Kandi Beach House 2014 compilation. With his tireless work ethic, undeniable talent behind the mixing desk, and ear for uncommon sounds and textures, Soledrifter's attention is focused not on the trends, but on the intimate details of his productions. With new music always cooking on the stove, his unique recipes are always a delightful fusion of dance floor fever and head-nodding whiplash
6. Feint Young Son ft. Roland Clark: ‘Protect Your Mind’
Info: Roland Clark is an American house music DJ, producer, songwriter and vocalist. In the past, Roland Clark used the aliases Jesus Jackson, Digital Pimps, Dark Clark, South Street Player, and is also a founding member of the dance music project Urban Soul. He learned how to write songs from his childhood mentor Calvin Gaines. In 1987, he released his first track, “Why!” .
One of the many projects he has been involved in is "Flowerz" by Armand van Helden, from the album 2 Future 4 U from 1998, as well as delivering his writing and vocal talents to the likes of Todd Terry, Duke Dumont and Katy Perry.
He was featured on two Fatboy Slim songs, "Star 69" and "Song for Shelter", both of which sample part of Clark's song "I Get Deep" and feature on Fatboy Slim's 2000 album Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars. In 2017, "I Get Deep" was once again sampled in "Swish Swish" by Katy Perry.
His 2006 song "Running on Sunshine", which he performed using the Jesus Jackson alias and co-recorded with Fatboy Slim.
7. Audiowhores ft. Stee Downes: ‘Facts’ (Noir Raw Club Cut)
Info: Audiowhores are the acclaimed and world renowned UK house music duo of Graham Lord and Adam Unsworth. Their high-quality original production and remix work for labels including Defected, Noir, Lapsus Music and their own Sublivid imprint has positioned them at the forefront of the UK's house scene. Similarly, their versatile and technically-brilliant DJ sets which incorporate everything from deep and soulful sounds to tougher and techier beats, have won the pair fans worldwide.
Audiowhores were ‘born’ in 2000 when Graham and Adam met at legendary UK club ‘Out In The Sticks’; sharing a passion for the sounds of Dave Lee, Knee Deep, Masters At Work, Full Intention and Jazz 'n' Groove, Adam and Graham resolved to work together. Adam already had a solid seven years experience behind the decks and was enjoying various residencies; Graham meanwhile was producing his own tracks and held a wealth of musical knowledge and expertise. The guys haven’t looked back and have gone on to build up a prolific portfolio of original productions and remixes earning them global recognition and respect as a top UK house music duo.
